GDPR
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU law that aims to protect the personal data of EU citizens. It entered into force on 25 May 2018 and applies to all companies that process personal data of EU citizens, regardless of their geographical location.
The GDPR sets strict rules for the collection, use, retention and disclosure of personal data. Companies must be transparent about the data they collect and obtain explicit consent from individuals for the use of their data. Companies are also required to protect and securely store personal data.
In case of data protection violations, data protection authorities can impose heavy penalties on the guilty. That is why it is important that companies comply with the GDPR to protect the rights and privacy of EU citizens.
